My name is Tisha Whittington. I am a dedicated educator and school leader based in Southwest Louisiana, with a career spanning over two decades in the field of education. Born and raised in the rural community of Kinder nestled in Southwest Louisiana, I have always had a passion for science and a commitment to nurturing young minds. After earning a degree in education, over the course of 16 years, I taught a variety of science subjects, including Biology, Physical Science, Earth Science, and Environmental Science. In addition to teaching, I was also a dedicated coach. My leadership and strategic acumen on the court, field, or course were pivotal in guiding our teams to victory, culminating in winning two state championships under the Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA). These achievements are a testament not only to coaching skills but also to the ability to mentor and motivate young athletes. Also a testament to what these young athletes and their families taught me along the way as well! Together we can do more. Transparency is key. Teamwork. Respecting each other and agreeing to work together for a collective efficacy. In 2019, I transitioned into an administrative role, becoming an Assistant Principal. In this capacity, I have continued to impact the school community positively, focusing on fostering an environment of kindness, receptivity, and academic excellence. My daily interactions with students, teachers, and parents have provided a wealth of insights that forever hold me accountable to a growth mindset! Always a learner. Reflection is a piece necessary for improvement. I have channeled extensive experience and observations into this children's book that aims to shed light on the importance of empathy and open-mindedness in education. The book reflects the challenges and triumphs I have witnessed as a school leader, offering valuable lessons on the power of kindness and the necessity of being receptive to others. Through writing this book, I hope to inspire educators, students, and readers alike to cultivate a more understanding and supportive educational environment. My journey from a passionate science teacher to a respected school leader and author underscores my unwavering dedication to education and belief in the power of kindness and receptivity in schools.Read more about this authorRead less about this author
