Ziel dieser Studie war es, die Adsorptionsfähigkeit von Biomasse zu testen, die aus verbrauchten Yerba-Mate-Abfällen gewonnen wurde, wobei die Aktivierung durch Pyrolyse allein mit der Aktivierung mit ZnCl2 und anschließender Pyrolyse verglichen wurde. Bei den untersuchten Metallen handelte es sich um Cu2+, Pb2+ und Ni2+, die bei Aufnahme hoher Konzentrationen gesundheitliche Schäden verursachen können.
Es wurde festgestellt, dass von den untersuchten Metallen Kupfer am besten aus dem Wasser entfernt werden kann, und zwar zu fast 100 % mit Aktivkohle allein durch Pyrolyse. Dieses Verfahren wies auch die höchste Freundlich-Konstante (Kf) von 203,0 mg.
g-1 auf. .
