I've been writing since childhood. I never chose to be a writer, just always wrote as a means of self expression and mental survival. Writing, creating music and art helped me to overcome many obstacles in my life and helped me to heal from trauma. However, these creative pursuits have also crippled me financially. It is very difficult to find the time and resources to pursue art of any kind in today's America. Is that a good thing? Should pursuit of the arts only be available to the wealthy? Should we abandon the American Dream ideology that states everyone has the right to pursue his/her happiness? These are the questions my first book, Diary of a Mad Bag Lady, seek to examine.Short Shorts is a lighter read, a book of poetry and flash fiction that I hope you will enjoy. Let me know if you like it. Diary of a Mad Bag Lady is temporarily out of print during a re-edit, but the book may be summarized as follows: Homelessness shouldn't exist in the United States. We are taught to blame the poor and the oppressed because once we do that, we don't look for solutions within our society. We can lack empathy and compassion for others without feeling guilty about it. But how about raising the minimum wage, for example? Lowering the cost of college tuition? Providing free or very low-cost job training programs that actually prepare trainees for living wage jobs, not dead-end receptionist or back-breaking construction work? In fact, there are many things we can do to prevent and to heal our society of poverty. But we won't do any of those things--won't even think of those solutions, when we continue to blame the victim. Narcissists are people who lack empathy and who don't care about others. Let's not become a society of narcissists. I think we are better than that as Americans. Let's maintain our ability to care about others.I hope to restore Diary of a Mad Bag Lady for purchase one day in the near future. I literally spent years editing that book and it was my "baby." But perhaps too thought provoking for the average American. I hope that Short Shorts is adequately lighter fare that won't disturb the status quo quite as much... Or will it?Read more about this authorRead less about this author

Some might say this eclectic collection of short stories, flash fiction, poetry, photography and artwork is quirky and off-the-beaten path. Others might find this work of fiction and poetry controversial with its provocative criticism of the corporate world, the American healthcare industry, poverty and social injustice.

This is the author's first published collection of her fiction, poetry and art, and it is well worth a read. For readers seeking a unique perspective that will truly make them think, this is the book.

Entertaining, engaging, and moving. If this book doesn't cause you to scream, "Outrageous! I strongly disagree!" it might just move you to tears.
