Daniel Craig Emery (he bears no relation to Mr. Bond himself, unfortunately) was born in the Beighton region of Sheffield, South Yorkshire in 1999 to a mechanical engineer and a counsellor. He subsequently moved to the North Nottinghamshire town of Worksop, where he grew up and was educated at a local comprehensive school. After sixth form, Emery moved to Nottingham City and went on to read law at Nottingham Trent University. He worked numerous part-time jobs, including one on a concrete plantation, one as a bar manager and as an SEN teaching assistant. He also interned at law firms, the Nottinghamshire Coroner's Court and did pro bono legal work. He ultimately became dissatisfied with the prospect of a career in law, especially following his final year during COVID-19 lockdown, and upon completion of his degree he decided to pursue his passion for writing, something he had been doing casually most of his life, and studied an MA in Creative Writing, also in Nottingham. Emery studied prose fiction as well as screenwriting and wrote essays on topics such as the works and influence of Ernest Hemingway and the manipulation of narrative perspective. He also wrote numerous stories, including the submission of short stories and a contribution to the cohorts' anthology series. A shortened version of his debut novel, 'Where Life is Easiest For Men' was submitted as his dissertation thesis. In his spare time, Emery is an avid Sheffield Wednesday Football Club supporter.
