Steve Lentini was born in Middletown to Italian immigrant parents and grew up the youngest of seven children although officially his identical twin, Stan, was 4 minutes younger.He delivered morning and evening newspapers at age 10 and, worked on a local farm as soon as he was 13 and it was legal. Later he worked at a supermarket, a junkyard, unloaded freight cars, and a golf course to put himself through the catholic high school. He went to work for a bank after high school, attended college, and joined his brother Frank's company in 1975 as a salesperson. "When my brother called me and asked if I wanted to work for him in sales, I said yes, hung up the phone and gave my two weeks' notice at the bank. On the way to work my first day for Frank, I realized I hadn't asked him what I would be paid. When I arrived I said to my brother, Frank, what is my pay... he said, Commission. I never looked back as to me a commission job is the closest you get to be the owner of your own business until you can own it."All of my sales jobs have been commission and in my own business, of course, it's the same in effect as I get paid for my results.I have sold, managed, consulted, and trained sales teams for over 45 years.A career in sales is one that can begin right after graduating high school or college as companies are always looking for bright sales talent. I love people and especially salespeople and have always helped my customers find the perfect solution to their problems and pain. It's worked well as referrals come to me all the time and I am still helping people buy, even if it's not from me. I help people get what is best for them and sometimes I hear myself say "I have the perfect solution... do you know Mary Jane or John Doe? He or she can help you best, and that is what I want for you."On November 13th, 2002, in the middle of a training class, I needed an ambulance and was ushered to Waltham Hospital around 3:30 pm... I remember being grateful and at peace, feeling this was to be like a flood or a forest fire, sent to renew me and to enter a new period of growth in my life. Five days later, in Intensive Care, I was in and out of a coma state, with two friends, Janice and Warren, visiting. As I learned later, around 2 pm, I had an anterior myocardial infarction, (massive heart attack) and was in "pure consciousness" as I now describe it, out of my body. "One with everything and nothing, one with the Infinite..." as I say.Next, a life review and only the good I had done, the lives I had touched flashed before me... family, friends, strangers whom I had helped... all there for me to see how I had been there for them. It was like my eulogy... and there was no past or future only "the now on steroids", the present moment, as I recall. Next, I was asked a question by a voice I can only describe as otherworldly, "Stay or go?" My consciousness responded with "Thy will be done." Looking back, I realized that the Divine, or God or the Goddess (it doesn't matter what you call the Life Force), was only in the moment, the now... and that somehow the good I had done was etched onto the fabric of time. Surrender to the moment too was a lesson as I was 50 years old and I don't think I had ever totally surrendered like that.Don't waste any precious moments as that is where the Divine resides... and do good! How do you feel when you do good? I always felt good and now I know why...! It is what we are here to do, to surrender to the moment and do good. We live in a miracle and forget it when life gets tough.
