Author Name
Pia Eklund (Author)
Pia Eklund, born in Sweden living in Spain, started the Swedish movement #vibrytertystnaden (we break the silence) 2018 after having taken part of hundreds of similar stories from women leaving abusive relationship to then being subjected to post separation abuse. She wrote several articles and quickly grew a large following. By raising the awareness the term post separation abuse found its way into the Swedish dictionary and the problem is no longer hidden in the dark. The book We break the silence was first published in Swedish and later translated to english in order to give a voice to women everywhere. Pia also started a foundation to help abused women with children financially and see it as her mission to contribute to making the world a safer and fairer place for women and children.Read more about this authorRead less about this author

Every third woman is subjected to domestic violence at least once. In the autumn 2018, Pia Eklund started a social media movement in Sweden, to give voice to her support group of women who have been victims of domestic violence followed by post-separation abuse.

The movement quickly grew a large following. Twelve women and their friends and family share their stories of how they were ensnared, broken down and subjected to violence - physically, psychologically, sexually, and financially.

How the man has continued abusing them after they have ended the relationship, often using the children as weapons. Too often, these women have not received support in court, by the police or social services, who often fail to identify the perpetrator behind the nice façade.

This book is full of helpful advice on what you can do as a victim, a close friend or family member, a colleague or someone who witnesses domestic violence. Psychologist and psychotherapist Eva Rusz, who coined the expression "relationship psychopaths" and authored a book on the subject, offers her expert knowledge in a specially written chapter in this book.
