Sheila Wanite Bautz (Author)
Sheila Wanite (full name: Sheila Wanite Bautz) is a diverse Canadian writer and popular International author with a foundational love for writing epic fantasy. Born and raised in rural Saskatchewan, Sheila wrote her first official book length epic fantasy ~ a sequel to The Odyssey ~ in grade nine. Her highly respected high school English teacher, Mr. Yuzik, requested to keep it... and made a prediction. The idea for the creation of The Code of The Bestia epic fantasy series was sparked in between 2007 in an English Literature class with Professor Barbara Langhorst through a poem Sheila wrote. Sheila has a diverse and robust portfolio of her work published across North America. An advocate for human rights, Sheila is a mother of four sons and has advocated on behalf of marginalized people to various government levels. This includes legal advocacy to the Supreme Court of Canada on behalf of mothers and children victimized by oppressive systems. She received a positive Kirkus Review on her investigative True Crime into work-place deaths in Canada, entitled Walking The Cutline: When Companies Kill. Sheila has also represented the University of Saskatchewan internationally with her research on William Blake. She has achieved her English Literature Honours BA and Sociology Honours BA. Currently, she works for First Nations University of Canada as a writing instructor and tutor.A wildlife, animal and nature lover, Sheila has always sought the refuge of the natural world as a sanctuary to recharge. She bred Straight Egyptian-Arabian horses and is known for her gentle, soft heart with all creatures, often drawn to those who are misunderstood to gain and provide insights. Presently, Sheila is typing at a tiny desk in a tiny village, with a Rottweiler named Cochise who doesn’t pay rent, but provides security… and havoc.Fun Fact: Named by her father of Russian Indigenous heritage, the origin of Wanite is Native American and means "the Charger", making her name translate to “Woman” or “Heavenly” Charger…Read more about this authorRead less about this author

"[A] compelling and well-researched examination of workplace safety laws. " ~ KIRKUS Reviews"[Walking The Cutline When Companies Kill] gives the reader an accessible look at workplace safety laws through the personable voice of Bautz, who doesn't sugarcoat any of the events.

" ~ Robin Tarnowetzki, Saskatchewan MediaWhen Sheila's husband, Dean, dies while seismic drilling in Alberta, she writes her favorite quote on a sticky note and tapes it on her desk: "Unthinking respect for authority is the greatest enemy of truth. " ~ Albert EinsteinWalking The Cutline When Companies Kill is the true account of a small town woman's determination to seek justice for her late husband's work-place fatality.

As Sheila submerges deeper into a world of lies and political injustice for profit, her suspicions about the real cause for Dean's death escalates as she attains conflicting and questionable information from all agencies involved, including Occupational Health and Safety. Against various opposition and advice to "just let it go" and surrender, Sheila stubbornly persists for nearly four years, piecing together what really happened.

Ultimately, she uncovers a concrete document deemed impossible to attain: the smoking gun document. However, Canadian laws prove to be the ultimate obstacle in Sheila's pursuit to seek justice in a country silent about exposing what really happens when companies kill.
