After, 'blowing out' as a primary school teacher, I left the UK and settled in Bulgaria in 2005 where it was love at first sight. Becoming self-sufficient and living off the land in an isolated village was a dream come true. Bulgaria is not for everyone who may venture there from affluent Western Europe. It is half a step back into a third-world country if you don't have money. With the complete culture change, I simply couldn't resist the temptation to write about what I saw when I got there.I would be the first to admit I didn't know anything about writing books when I first started nearly 20 years ago. Also being dyslexic didn't help, in fact, it nearly put me off completely with my struggles. There is so much time needed to create a decent book and even more time with my disability. Rushing to get it finished was the biggest mistake made in the early books and the reviews reflected this. One of the main reasons for this was not having to go through the pain barrier of proofreading, it was torture trying to find corrections and I couldn't afford to pay for this service. However, now with my sixth book published with the time and effort spent on the latest book, (over two years), I hope to gain better reviews.The writing is not for profit, but an aid for my state of mind. Once written down, I don't have to think about it anymore, it is effectively locked away and out of my mind. Also, there is a warm feeling knowing that after I leave this world there will be something for the future generations of my family to reflect on, not just a gravestone.Read more about this authorRead less about this author
