Stephen Rawling is a father, a husband, and a Police Officer in the City of Phoenix, Arizona. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Brigham Young University – Idaho and a master’s degree in public administration from Arizona State University. Stephen Rawling is a Liberian born and raised in Guinea. Stephen immigrated to the United States as an asylee at the end of the Liberian Civil War to seek a better life. After working as a social worker for nearly six years for the State of Arizona, Stephen embarked on a journey to become a Police Officer in the City of Phoenix. In July 2019 Stephen entered the Phoenix Police Academy and graduated in January 2020. Stephen continues to work as a Police Officer protecting and providing services to the citizens of the City of Phoenix. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Stephen told his story about all the challenges he faced as a young child, he remembers when his parents abandoned him, and he had to raise himself with the help of his older brother Sylvester. Stephen's brother was forced to become a father figure to him when their parents left them. His brother protected him during fights and begged for food to feed him. Stephen tells of the time he was sexually assaulted by a man who frequented their residence.
