Washington Luiz Bastos Conceição was born in Ponta Grossa, Paraná, Brazil. He was raised in São Paulo, where he studied and was married. He graduated in Civil Engineering from the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo.After four years of leading civil engineering projects, he was hired by IBM, in São Paulo, where he worked for 24 years. After transferring to IBM’s headquarters in Rio de Janeiro in 1970, he has since resided in this city. After leaving IBM, he continued his activities in the areas of Marketing, Sales, and Consulting with other companies, until 2009.He published his first book, “Histórias do Terceiro Tempo” (Stories of the Third Half), in 2009, at the age of seventy-six. The second book, “Para você se animar e escrever seu livro” (For you to cheer up and write your book), whose title reflects the author's goal, was published in 2010. The third book, “O Projeto 3.7 e Nós” (The 3.7 Project and Us), was published in 2011 and republished in English in 2012. “A Califórnia e Nós” (California and Us) was published in 2015. An expanded second edition of “Para você se animar e escrever seu livro” was published in 2016. In 2017, he reissued “Emocoes que Ficam” (Emotions that Remain), a book of poems written by Osmar Bastos Conceição, his father.Since 2012, he has been publishing chronicles on various subjects on his blog, in the spirit of “writing to friends.” The blog link is: http://www.washingtonconceicao.blogspot.com .In 2013 he started to compile his blog’s chronicles into books, successively publishing the “Crônicas Selecionadas 2012 – 2013” (Selected Chronicles 2012 – 2013), the "O Meia Lua" (chronicles of 2013 and 2014), the “Uma vez por ano” (“Once a Year”, chronicles of 2014 and 2015), and the “Discurso de 85 anos” (“The 85-year-old speech” and other chronicles). This year, 2022, he published "Osmar e Jurema", the story of his parents, a Brazilian couple of the twentieth century, in the historical setting of their time, as well as this book, with both Portuguese and English versions.His books are published in digital and printed versions.He declares, already in his 89th year, that he will continue to write as long as this activity brings him satisfaction and his physical ability allows.Read more about this authorRead less about this author
