Author Name
Edward S. Baker (Author)
Born in Massachusetts, Ed Baker traveled widely as a child because his U.S. Marine father was transferred to new assignments across the U.S.A. on a regular basis. By the time Ed was twelve, he had crossed the United States three times. And at the ripe old age of sixteen, he drove a stick shift Ford across the nation, following his dad, who was pulling a camping trailer behind the family’s station wagon. An English major at Elon College, Ed earned a master’s degree at Appalachian State University and a doctorate in Educational Leadership at the Sage College’s Esteves School of Education. After thirty-five years in higher education and after retiring as Interim President of a public community college, he turned his attention to his first love, writing, while continuing to teach undergraduate and graduate courses on an adjunct basis at a private college in upstate New York. During the warm months, Ed and his wife reside in their cabin on Galway Lake, New York. During the cold months, they “hole up” in their winter quarters in Saratoga Springs, New York. When he’s not writing or teaching, Ed is playing with his four grandchildren or his four-legged canine companion Sudsy. Ed saw his first UFO as a young man while camping out at Green Lakes State Park near Syracuse, New York. He saw his second while living on the beach and surfing at Emerald Isle, North Carolina, back when it was still a wild and undeveloped stretch of dunes. And he chased a black Triangle along the Taconic State Parkway a little later in life. Ed’s four-volume Dan Arrow series is based upon these experiences and upon current conspiracy theory lore, combining the UFO mystery with national and global politics and the rumored agenda of the New World Order. Ed's latest works feature his new fictional hero and heroine, Bartholomew Jones and Helen Martin, police detectives in the small city of Willow Falls, New York. First discovering why some people ought not submit their DNA to commercial analysis firms, they also uncover a cult of murderous blood drinkers, and find themselves hip deep in a battle between factions in a "garbage war." Ed feels that the Dan Arrow and Bartholomew Jones novels are fun to write because they permit him to delve into seemingly unrelated elements that mesh together into a fabric offering many clandestine possibilities. And, of course, he melds current events and conspiracy theory into every plot.
