Author Name
Patricia Diehl (Author)
I was born in Hannibal, Missouri (but did not inherit any of Mark Twain's writing ability by osmosis). I grew up on a farm in a family who loved to tell stories and read whenever they could find a spare minute. Forty-plus years ago I married Dean Diehl and we have two adult sons. We raised our boys in the West, first in Wyoming and then Nevada. My desire to write lay dormant until I wrote an anecdote about baby son #1 and sent it to Readers Digest. Three years later they printed it, tracked me down through three moves and paid me enough to cover a week's grocery bill. I was hooked!Following that first attempt, I have written articles published in magazines ranging from "Catholic Digest" to "True West." However, THE WOMEN WHO KNEW HIM was the first book I wrote and also my first experience with e-book publishing. The experience was not painful so I intend to continue.Since then I e-published TWO SIDES of A DIFFERENT COIN and in September 2017, DEBRA/DEBORAH now join my list of books. The majority of the proceeds from all my books will be given to mission organizations such as Samaritan's Purse and Wycliffe Bible Translators.Read more about this authorRead less about this author

Anna Reber, raised on a Midwestern farm, became fascinated with Big City life--its concerts, theater productions, and energetic hubbub. Her job in the accounting department of a large manufacturing firm gave her financial independence.

She even met a very special fellow there. But then the United States joined her Allies across the ocean to fight the German Axis Powers in France.

As Anna’s male colleagues and friends scrambled to learn “soldiering”, those left at home learned to adapt to their absence. Some absences would be temporary, others permanent.

By the time the Armistice was signed in 1918, the United States was dealing with the Spanish Influenza epidemic. Anna has to decide between financial independence in the city or the tug of family responsibility.

She learns war is not always fought by uniformed soldiers using guns and bombs. .
