About the AuthorMaryann Pasda DiEdwardo is the author of The Significance of the Writing of Thomas Merton, Cultivating Peace (2018) and Spatializing Social Justice, Literary Critiques (2019). Dr.DiEdwardo is the University of Maryland University College UMUC Stanley J. Drazek Teaching Excellence Award (Drazek award) winner 2017.She presents lectures on Metacognition and Fine Arts in the United States and Canada. She is a graduate of both Penn State University (Undergraduate B.A.Summa Cum Laude) and Lehigh University (M.A. English Graduate Degree). She earned an Ed.D. in 2004 from California Coast University. Her research interests include writing process theory, student directed learning, fine arts as a paradigm for teaching, and structured curriculum designs. She teaches writing at University of Maryland University College UMUC, where she was a curriculum specialist for The Modern Novel and two classes: 281 and 386. Maryann DiEdwardo's original essay "Semiotics, Connectivity, and Social Order Of Imagined Architecture In Fiction Works” won the Karen Lentz Award in Denver at the 2016 Conference College English Association for Adjunct or Contingent Faculty Presentation. Maryann P. DiEdwardo, Ed.D is the author of more than 40 books and articles. Since 1976, Dr. DiEdwardo has taught English, literature, and research in Pennsylvania colleges and universities; she co-founded Pasda Studios School of Art and co-facilitated Fine Art programs for students of all ages for thirty-two years. In 2004, results of her case study research suggested that the integration of music in the college classroom improved students’ grades and abilities to compose thesis statements for research papers in courses that emphasize reading and writing skills. In her initial study, Dr. DiEdwardo refined Howard Gardner’s 1993 definition of music as a separate intellectual competence. Maryann DiEdwardo is editor and contributor for American Women Writers, Poetics and the Nature of Gender Study. Maryann Pasda DiEdwardo, M.A. Ed.D. Educator, Author, Artist, was awarded the Northampton Community College Project Aware Outstanding Service Award 1978, State Teaching Awards State of Pennsylvania Department of Education Recycling and Archaeology Contests and Independent Publishing Poynter Celebrity Author Award for Write a Book of Haiku and Trees. UMUC awarded her with 2016 and 2017 Professional Achievement Awards. She also was awarded a Professional Achievement Award by the College English Association in 2018. Her professional career in teaching began in 1975 at the Northampton Community College. From 1976 to 1979, she served as a Professional Assistant in the Reading –Writing Lab. In 1977, the Center for Adult Learning chose Maryann as the Teacher for Children’s Theatre at the Community College. She wrote, directed, and produced four original musicals with children performing of the public between 1977 and 1979. Her public speaking career began in 1980. She is a motivational speaker for community fine arts and professional conferences. She served as artistic director of Pasda Studios Art for 33 years. Adjunct Professor for Lehigh University and Adjunct Professor for University of Maryland University College, she has also taught as Adjunct Professor for Penn State University, Northampton Community College, Lehigh Carbon Community College, and DeSales University. Since 1994, she has produced over 50 books for the national market. Filmography: Maryann Pasda DiEdwardo appears in a film about Katharine Hepburn co-directed by Bertrand Tessier and Anne-Cecile Genre. At present, he is author and filmmaker. He published around fifteen biographies and directed thirteen documentaries for french TV, mainly dedicated to American motion pictures. Maryann is cited as Actress in a film series by Bertrand Tessier, titled Les couples mythiques du cinema, Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy, January 8, 2017, TV episode, 52 Min. Documentary. She was interviewed by the Directors about her memoir which was an important reference (The Legacy of Katharine Hepburn).
