Having enjoyed writing mystery stories at junior school, I continued to write short stories into adulthood as a hobby. However, following retirement I decided to use the winters productively to see if I could write a full length novel. The result is a series of Ian Caxton thrillers! The first book, ‘The Opportunity’ was published in 2021 and has received excellent reviews. I must admit I found some of the art world explanations a little tedious, however I am probably a little more knowledgeable than the average reader of this book would be.The characters were very well written, and this book definitely revolves around its characters and how they react when put in a series of different situations. Victor or in particular I found an interesting character who certainly seems to have a lot of potential within the art dealing world.I absolutely raced through this book, and I think any reader who loves art would enjoy this book. The only reason I say it's an okay read is just because I am used to faster paced thrillers but this was really well written with a good plot line that kept hold of your attention as you explored the underbelly of the art world.
