Shaquenia “Queen” Nelson’s (Witherspoon) mission is to help others speak their truth, and empower them to release themselves from the b.o.n.d.a.g.e. of their pasts. Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Queen graduated from Cass Technical High School. She holds a Bachelors degree in film from Ferris State University, where she graduated with honors all while raising her young daughter. Presently, Queen is pursuing a Masters of Theology and Ministry at Fuller Theological Seminary.No stranger to the church, Queen is the granddaughter of the founders of Greater Bibleway Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan, where she gained her foundation and faith in the Lord, and served in several capacities. In Fayetteville, Georgia, she was blessed to be able to serve as leader of the youth ministry and choir director at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Currently, Queen serves as Worship Leader under Rev. Dr. Cecelia GreeneBarr at Creative Worship Center in Redford, Michigan. She is the mother of two children, a mentor to many, and friend to all. Queen is a psalmist, poet, prayer warrior, author, and speaker. Her work is informed by the trauma of her past and the calling to help bring past hurts from the darkness into God’s light -- where true healing can take place.
