Episode 8, “Assassin’s Flight,” focuses on the Historic Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary from which James Earl Ray escaped in 1977.A Prison Anthology is a history of the infamous prison’s newspaper, Mountain Review, which opens with an article detailing Ray’s dash for freedom and many of the prison’s other notorious attributes. Garry W. Johnson was interviewed at length for the television program, sharing his inside knowledge of the facility and research on Ray’s escape.
