He is honored to have lived and worked in Fiji, playing a significant role in developing the country’stourism, especially Denarau Island. His achievements include:• Listed as a Noteworthy Real Estate Executive by MarquisWho’s Who• Awarded a Commemorative Medal from the FijiGovernment in 1995• Served as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force,1951–1955• Member of the Fiji Lawn Tennis Association and theInternational Game Fishing AssociationMcElrath’s career began after he studied Aeronautical Engineering at Cal Aero Technical Institute for two years, then joinedDouglas Aircraft Corporation. From there, you can trace his path through commercial real estate development in Fiji, thanks inlarge part to his accidental discovery of Denarau Island in 1969.
