Judy McConnell was born in Charleston, West Virginia. As a young child, she moved with her family to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she grew up. During her school years she wrote poetry and short stories, but it wasn't until after marriage, children, and a career in education and corporate training that she took up creative writing full time. Her first book, A PENNY A KISS: MEMOIR OF A MINNESOTA GIRL IN THE FORTIES AND FIFTIES, which took her four years to write, was published in 2014 by North Star Press. Judy's second book JUST KEEP SHOOTING: MY YOUTH IN MANHATTAN, MEMOIR OF A MIDWESTERN GIRL IN THE 1950's AND 1960's was published in 2016 by Yorkford Press. Her story continues as she sets off in her twenties to New York City to forge a life for herself. Careers, travels, relationships, and sexual mores are explored as the author confronts the conventional society of the late Fifties that predates the explosive Sixties. Her third book has just been released. DREAMHOUSE, a novel, relates the story of an ideal young suburban family wracked by the upheavals and nationwide protests that occurred in the late Sixties and early Seventies.Now retired, McConnell lives in Minneapolis, MN.
