Author Name
Mark Salzwedel (Author)
I was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA, on Christmas morning in 1961. That should tell you all you need to know, but it does not.I excelled in my schooling and many extracurricular activities, and spent 4 years in Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA, studying German and drama, but majoring in English with a creative writing emphasis. My first job out of college was in book publishing; I was an acquiring editor in religions, psychology, and philosophy for a major house.I continued to freelance in publishing, ghostwriting a couple of indigenous autobiographies as I explored acting, journalism, an a bunch of temp jobs. Acting finally took off, and I moved from San Francisco to Los Angeles to level up, but it never really happened. I did a couple of national speaking tours talking about practical Taoism, learned massage and hypnosis, and studied a bunch of languages.I've been in New York for more than a dozen years now, and before becoming an ad copywriter, I developed websites, worked as a translator, and started a board game publishing company. I also compose music.Read more about this authorRead less about this author

His short stories have appeared in literary magazines and anthologies, and his previous novel is The Lever (Queer Space Books, 2022).

PRAISE FOR THE LEVER BY MARK SALZWEDEL“There is as much wonder here as there is fear, and that careful mixture made this book a special read for me. ” – Ulysses Grant Dietz, queerscifi.

com“Unique space thriller, with good character development, surprise twists and turns, and a fascinating (terrifying?) antagonist at its heart!” – Damian Serbu, author of The Vampire’s Angel“Loaded with space-age detail and plenty of interpersonal melodrama, Salzwedel elevates his hefty 400-page novel to new heights with creative intergalactic accents and characters that pop and sizzle with righteous momentum to restore the greater good. ” – Jim Piechota, Bay Area Reporter.
