As a child, I was an avid reader, actually telling friends I was grounded so that I could stay home with my book. I also loved to tell stories. I would start writing a story, and then, the voices in my head would change, and I found myself putting that draft away to start something else. I never once finished anything longer than a short story, that was usually an assignment that I had to finish for a grade. That finally changed in 2024 with The Merc and The Courtesan, which kicks off a large series that I have a lot planned out already. The whole adage about writing the book you want to read really came into play for me. That’s what did and plan to keep doing.A little about me: I’m a mom of two boys, one old enough to drive and the other getting ready to enter his teen years. I have a husband who, I joke, makes me feel like I have three kids at times. We have two cats (one is definitely a Velcro cat, while the other should be on a watch list) and a dog. I like to adopt all the wildlife in my backyard, so I have bird feeders and put out food for the squirrels.I started working from home when my oldest son was born, and haven’t looked back. I worked as a content writer and loved getting paid to do what I loved, but when the pandemic happened, many clients decided to handle their content needs in-house, so I pivoted back to selling on eBay, which I’ve been doing for years anyway. Well, AI took my content work again last year. So, I decided it was time to buckle down and finish the book I’d been working on for over two years. When I’m not working, I’m reading in my free time. We’re also big on going to the movies. We see at least one movie a week when our theater has new movies. Nothing is worse than when we want to go to the movies, and none of the movies catch our attention. We have one of those plans where you can see three movies a week for one monthly fee, and sometimes, we use all three slots for that week. Thrifting is also a passion of mine as it’s a great way to find things for my family and to resell. You never know what you’re going to find.
