Author Name
Paul Koppisch (Author)
Paul Koppisch is the author of thirteen novels. He was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, the fourth child in a large family of voracious readers. He currently lives in suburban Virginia.A literary fiction addict, and having been inspired by his great uncle William Ard, the highly successful writer from the 1950’s, many of Koppisch's early novels centered on a brooding, addicted loner, often naïve and violent and rejecting of society. Later works focus on the struggle of immigrants, often young women, to adapt and succeed in new, unfamiliar countries. He also likes to place his characters in exotic historical settings, often in Asia. Koppisch's first series of novels was set during the Korean War and its main character, Jimmy Hong, a young, would-be private detective, is stuck in the corrupt and violent city of Pusan trying to scratch out a living finding missing persons while the city is under siege by the North Korean army. The Jimmy Hong series was recently republished as a compilation entitled Pusan Deadly!.His latest novel, "Who Knows Where the White Crane Flies?" traces the journey of a strange girl from her tiny village in Vietnam to the Philippines. She languishes as a refugee there before she is sent to the United States where she struggles with addiction, homelessness and lost love only to find herself as she comes full circle. His other works include "Loose Ends", "All the Pretty Girls", "An Atlas of Hearts", "Daughter" and "Lin Tan".In addition to writing, Koppisch enjoys traveling extensively throughout Asia for both inspiration and simple pleasure.Read more about this authorRead less about this author

"THOROUGHLY ENTERTAINING!""A NOSTALGIC LOOK AT YOUTH IN LATE 50'S NEW YORK CITY . ""GREAT CHARACTERIZATION!"It's 1958, and a ragtag gang of wayward teens on the verge of adulthood navigate the mean, unforgiving streets of New York City while eking out a living hawking newspapers and doing other odd jobs for minimal pay.

Emotions flare when a rival Brooklyn gang insults one of the group's girls. A rumor then spreads that the Brooklyn gang has obtained a gun in anticipation of a fight between the two groups which no one seems to be capable of avoiding.

A coming-of-age story, The Manhattan Boys lays bare the sometimes dangerous, often tumultuous time between childhood and the adult world with mid-century New York City as the noisy, colorful backdrop. .
