The Lyrics of My Life, Second Edition, features the best poems of the first edition plus new poetry and a collection of essays by the author written over the past two years. Beyond the poetry of his youth, Carter has added poems that are contemporary in nature, but still embrace the same subject matter as the first edition: Carter continues to offer poetry that is thoughtful, meaningful, and above all, honest with both himself and his audience.

The addition of several of his works in prose as well as his entrance into songwriting is yet another step in his artistic experience. .
