I was born in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. I am the oldest of three children and the only girl. My fondest childhood memories are of our family piling into our RV and heading to the mountains to hike, bike ride, and go sightseeing. We had some great times! My family moved around with my dad's job, so I went to several schools. I learned to make friends quickly, which has served me well my entire life. I was a pretty good student. However, I had a reading problem in third grade, but once I got a good grasp of reading and comprehension, I began to enjoy it and still do. In the early 80s, my family and I attended a full gospel church, I was born again at 12, and my family and I were baptized in a river in Pumpkin Center, Louisiana. After graduating high school in Greenwood, Mississippi, I worked as a cashier in a local grocery store and a waitress in a small diner. At the age of 20, I became a United States Marine. And by the age of 21, I was married and had my first child. I chose not to reenlist, so I was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in 1993, and by the age of 26, I was the mother of three sons and living in North Carolina. Once my children were in school, I attended a local community college. My favorite class was writing. That's where my love for writing began. My professor once commented that I had become a pretty good writer and was very witty. Ha! Who knew?In 2003, my family and I moved to Michigan, where we lived for over eight years. It was there that my husband retired from the Marine Corps after serving 21 years. In 2011, I decided it was time to go home. So, in 2012 we moved to Louisiana. I love it here! This is home. This is where I belong. By 2015, our nest was empty, but God quickly gave me a new assignment. I wrote my first book, The Many Fears of Miela the Cat, in the summer of 2017 and was published in 2018. My second book, The Wonderful Life of Mr. Bear, was published in 2019. And my third book, The Little Boy That Could, was published in 2022. In the summer of 2019, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Praise God! I am excited to say that today I am cancer-free. My husband and I are grandparents and enjoy every minute of it. Sadly, we are now separated, but life goes on. I live in an apartment with the star of my first book, Miela the Cat. We are both adjusting well to our new life. When I'm not working on my next book, I'm working full-time, reading, baking, studying the Bible, spending time with my family, or going for long walks. I write children's books because I love taking true stories and pulling biblical truths from them to encourage children and parents to put their faith in God, His word, and pray. God is always speaking to us; we only have to be still and listen. Psalms 46:10He says, "Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."Read more about this authorRead less about this author
