I'm often asked how I survived the pain and sadness of losing my son, David, to addiction. When his heroin addiction was discovered, I had a lot to learn. For the next 15 years, he rotated through active addiction, relapse, jail terms, failed treatments, and finally a fatal illness. I didn’t think I would survive the horrors of his addiction, but I did. I started writing "The Last Stop" to help families understand how addiction to drugs can turn their child into a stranger and how they can help them. I worked on this book for four years to present a fair and true assessment of my experience with David’s addiction so others will benefit and avoid his fate.I live in Virginia with my husband and terrier pup, Benji.
