Eddie, a terminally ill Hollywood costumer, sends his son Chris to Rome to retrieve a holy relic believed to bestow health, eternal youth, and fortune. Eddie learned of its powers from Zapata, an Italian stuntman, while filming a spaghetti western.

Despite financial struggles, Chris flies to Rome and tracks down Zapata, now known as Spartaco, who is reduced to parking cars and entertaining tourists at the Colosseum. Spartaco, moved by Eddie’s plight, reveals that the relic, a coral-horn pendant, lies with Saint Esmeralda in a glass tomb.

It’s fiercely guarded by mafia boss Tommaso Casacannara, who attributes his success to it and will kill to protect it. The story weaves together life, death, romance, and the power of belief in the saint’s pendant and ultimately ourselves.
