John Mucai was born on September 7, 1957, in Nakuru, Kenya. Since his retirement in September 2017, John has been pursuing various hobbies and entrepreneurial interests, including writing books to entertain and elicit a positive behavior change.John holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Nairobi. He is an alumnus of the United States International University, where he graduated with an MSc in Management and Organizational Development and a BSc cum laude in Information Systems and Technology. He has a Diploma in Cooperative Management from the Cooperative College of Kenya too.He qualified as a Certified Public Accountant (Kenya) in 1983. He won the Kenya Institute of Accountants and Secretaries National Examinations Board prize for the best overall performance in the CPA Part 1 (Section II) examination in December 1978. He also won the Unga Kenya Limited prize for the best overall performance in the CPA II Management Mathematics examination in December 1981.John is a veteran of The Coca-Cola Company. He worked for different entities of the company for more than 30 years, holding many different roles of increasing responsibility in Finance, Business Systems, and Strategy/Business Planning. And in multiple locations, including Kenya, Ivory Coast, and South Africa, the USA, Belgium, and the United Kingdom. He was the overall winner of the Coca-Cola East and Central Africa Business Unit Values Award for 2006. The company gave this award to the employee who continually demonstrated the values of The Coca-Cola Company through words, actions, and by example.John married Susan Mumbi in 1984.
