In 1968, An Armenian American Army aviator, Korey Ambarlian, during his last two months in Vietnam, takes an unexpected R&R to Australia and meets a stunning Armenian American Flight Attendant, Natalie Asoghlouian, while on the Pan Am flight there. They eventually develop an intimate relationship that carries them together from Southeast Asia to Germany.

While flying the political border between East and West Germany, Korey rescues a Jewish physicist and his family with his helicopter while they attempt to escape over the border from the East.
