In 2011, Darius founded Martian Lit, which publishes creative work, including a set of comic books set in his Martian Universe that spans 20,000 years of an alien civilization.In 1996, while still an undergraduate, Darius founded what would become Sequart Organization, which was a key advocate for comics and popular culture as legitimate forms of art worthy of respect and analysis. In 2005, Darius published the first scholarly book on Christopher Nolan’s Batman films. In 2015, he released CLASSICS ON INFINITE EARTHS, a massive study of the Justice League and DC's shared universe. He has also published books on (among other subjects) BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE, which elaborated a theory on the book’s plot that was praised by Kevin Smith; Jack Kirby’s comic-book continuation of 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY; and MAI, THE PSYCHIC GIRL. He has edited scores of books and produced several documentaries about comics for the organization.Darius co-hosts, with Scott Weatherly, the STORIES OUT OF TIME AND SPACE podcast on sci-fi movies and television.After graduating magna cum laude from Lawrence University (Appleton, Wisconsin), Darius obtained his M.A. in English, authoring a thesis on John Milton and utopianism.
