Motion4Recovery is more than just a name—it's a testament to the transformative power of resilience, faith, and community. Born out of a journey marked by adversity and triumph, Motion4Recovery embodies the spirit of hope, healing, and redemption. My journey into sobriety began on a pivotal day: September 18, 2016. That day marked the end of my battle with alcohol, but it also started a new chapter filled with challenges and profound transformations. After enduring a severe convulsion due to alcohol detoxification, I found myself in a wrecked vehicle, which led me to spend almost a week in the ICU. This period was darkened further by catastrophic flooding in my area, claiming my home and all my possessions. I left the hospital with nothing but my life, my health in a fragile state, and the clothes I was wearing. With no home to return to, I sought refuge in a Red Cross shelter, followed by a return to my hometown where I stayed in a homeless shelter. Physical challenges such as difficulty walking, stuttering speech, and writing issues plagued me for months. Despite these obstacles, I immersed myself in church, positive support groups, and Alcoholics Anonymous. In the midst of my journey, I found solace and purpose in reaching out to others who were struggling with addiction and homelessness. From this desire to give back and offer hope to those in need, I founded the Motion4Recovery Facebook page. What began as a humble effort to provide encouragement to those in homelessness and active addiction has now blossomed into a community of over 12 million people per week, spreading hope through the teachings of Jesus Christ.Today, I am an active member of the recovery community, dedicated to volunteering and service work. My experience has taught me that to embody God’s hands and feet, one must be in motion, continuously moving forward. Now residing in the Los Angeles area, I am blessed with a fulfilling job and a wonderful life partner who shares this journey with me. Together, we navigate the complexities and joys of life, grounded in gratitude and a commitment to helping others. My path from the depths of addiction to a life of purpose and connection underscores the power of resilience, faith, and community. It’s a testament to the idea that no matter how dire our circumstances, there is always a path forward. Through Motion4Recovery, I extend my hand to those on their journey to recovery, offering a beacon of hope and a reminder that transformation is possible, one step, one day at a time.Read more about this authorRead less about this author
