Diane Jane Ball is the first-time author of 'The Austens of Steventon', inspired by a visit she made to Jane Austen’s House in Chawton. She became curious about the friendship between Jane Austen and Martha Lloyd, who lived with her. On finding out more, Diane soon realised that another family, the Fowles of Kintbury, was equally important to both women too.Diane created this family saga to show how closely the three families were bound together. Based on facts and information gleaned from Austen family memoirs and biographies, Diane takes up the story from the marriage of Mr and Mrs Austen and follows the lives of Jane and her siblings as they grow up in Steventon and beyond. 'The Austens of Steventon' is the first novel in a series of three. Diane is currently working on the second, 'The Austens of Bath', to be followed soon after by 'The Austens of Chawton'.Diane’s own life is one of contrasts.
