Renee Gunn is a former Veterinary Technician, Certified Professional Pet Sitter (CPPS), and a certified pet CPR and First Aid instructor. In 2012, Renee received her Associate's Degree in Veterinary Technology and passed the National Veterinary Technician Examination (VTNE).In 2013, Renee began volunteering with local animal rescues and animal shelters, where she learned about national animal response organizations. In 2014, Renee became a volunteer with local and national animal emergency response organizations specializing in the emergency sheltering of dogs and cats during national disasters, hoarding cases, and criminal seizures. Renee has deployed to Houston, Texas, after Hurricane Harvey, flooding in Tulsa, Oklahoma, puppy mill seizures in Arkansas and Washington, and several local requests for assistance in animal care. In January 2019, Renee took on a new role as founder and co-owner of The Pet Porters. The Pet Porters started by offering local pet sitting and pet CPR and First Aid classes. However, in 2020, during the pandemic, The Pet Porters showed their adaptability and commitment to serving their clients by expanding their business to include international and domestic pet air travel, pet ground transport, and pet air nanny services.In 2023, Renee decided to spread her entrepreneurial wings and started The Sterling Pooch Pet Services. The Sterling Pooch offers in-home pet sitting, including overnight pet care, local pet taxi service, and VIP pet transportation services across the United States. She is a member of Pet Sitters International, the National Association of Pet Sitters, the Texas Pet Sitters Association, and the Cleburne Chamber of Commerce.Renee lives in Cleburne, Texas, and spends her free time writing, hiking, reading, and playing with her dog, Gemma, and cat, Romi.
