I, Andrew Johnson, was born of two goodly parents in the 1970’s and raised in a military household. Despite their best parenting, I found myself in hot water plenty of times as a kid…landing me in my room to contemplate my misdeeds on a regular basis. This was the perfect setting for an active, creative boy to discover the joys of building with LEGO bricks. Many were the golden hours spent constructing ships, airplanes, various sculptures, and sundry other works of “art” over the years. But when our family joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and attended the Salt Lake City Temple in the 1980’s, I discovered my true passion – designing and building models of temples! Over a period of time I took my passion from playroom to drawing board by designing and building large models of the Nauvoo, Washington DC, and Salt Lake City temples, each one adding to my repertoire of skills. In 2013, while recovering from neck surgery for 6 weeks, I worked on designs for a mini version of the San Diego Temple. That effort spurred me on to create additional designs for miniature models of the Salt Lake City, Cardston, and Washington DC temples. And that’s when I was struck with the idea to write a book containing the designs to build these and other mini temple models using LEGO or similar bricks. Thus began an ongoing work to produce volumes of “Teeny Tiny Temples” and bring them into your home.
