Allo scoppio del conflitto le 575 tankette TK/TKS costituivano il grosso delle forze corazzate polacche prima dello scoppio della guerra contro la Germania di Hitler. Come tutta l’armata polacca, anche le tankette subirono gravi perdite durante l’invasione della Polonia, essendo spesso gli unici veicoli corazzati da combattimento disponibili.
Le loro dimensioni assai ridotte le rendevano adatti alla ricognizione e al supporto della fanteria, ma con il loro armamento leggero, costituito da una sola mitragliatrice, questi mezzi non avevano alcuna possibilità di combattere contro i carri armati tedeschi, tranne forse che contro i Panzer I. Dopo la sconfitta vennero utilizzate dai tedeschi che tuttavia non le apprezzarono particolarmente.
