I was born and raised in the small town of Assiniboia, Saskatchewan, in a family of seven kids. My Mom became a single parent to myself and my six siblings when I was only four years old: due to my father being a violent and chronic alcoholic. We moved from small town Assiniboia to be raised in the big City of Regina, Saskatchewan. While I attended elementary school from ages five to nine, I was told by my teachers I was stupid, because I had undiagnosed dyslexia. Letters and numbers did not look the way others described them as. I suffered from this learning disability during a time when they referenced you to be stupid because they did not know what dyslexia was at the time. This verbal abuse carried on until I repeated grade four! At which time I finally met a teacher who showed me how I could read my own words demonstrating to me an entire new world of learning. She gave me the opportunity to understand what I had seen so differently and was able to show me it was possible for me to look at it her way as well. It took a large amount of memorizing how to spell words, simple ones, for an example the word, “SUN”. Since it starts with a letter ‘S’ to me that could be the number '5' or even the number '3' instead of the letter 'S'. So as soon as I was able to recognize that the word started with an 'S' I was also able to spell words that would rhyme with it like 'RUN, BUN and GUN'. As time progressed, I was able to go from failing my grades in English and Arithmetic to passing with a 'C'. I am presently a self-published poet and author; my books are my newest treasures in life and I’m very proud of them! On a medical level, I have been through the ringer and back several times! There is at least three times I can remember of having that taste of death and one memory I should not have, of dying and coming back to life. My four part series, “ Everything Happens for a Reason: the Journeys and Struggles of Hippie Sue”, goes more in depth of these personal experiences. My poetry book, ‘Relinquished’ also touches on my experiences. Over the years, I have battled many different doctors and other issues to fight my illnesses. I resorted to walking away from western medicine and commenced practicing the natural way of healing, with or without the support of those closest to me! My Mom! My Rock! It was torture when my Mom did not support me through this struggle, but this too happened for a reason! As fate would have it, I met an Elder who took me under his wing and showed me the way to live a humble life of healing and strength. Found in my book of healing called, “Healing Circles and Meditation: The Power of Prayer”! I am a non-conventional Christian. I am a tree hugger and Druid. I am a Seer. I am an Empath and keep myself grounded to Mother Earth These abilities, I inherited or maybe they just became more intense after my last near-death experience! I was once told I should not remember the things that I remember the day I died and came back. The experience opened my mind to believing in myself when it came to healing. Also, that I was the one who decided if I wanted to come back to life or not! Yes, I believe in God. Yes, I believe in Jesus Christ. I am one to practice my beliefs outside of a church, but I do love churches! I welcome you all to read and enjoy my various books as I continue to share my experiences with you!Read more about this authorRead less about this author
