A. A. Akibibi is the pen name for Michael Jonathan (Jon) Megahan. Jon grew up as a missionary kid in Tanzania, East Africa. From fourth to twelfth grade, he attended International School Moshi (ISM), a boarding school located in north central Tanzania. Every seven to eleven weeks, Jon flew home by Cesena to visit his parents in rural Tanzania. At school, Jon spent most of his free time either on the sports field or in the library, reading a good book (Robert Heinlein and J.R.R. Tolkien were among his favorite authors growing up). He had the great privilege of going on field trips to Mount Kilimanjaro, different wildlife parks, and to the coast to study coral reefs. Jon attended Augustana College (now Augustana University) in Sioux Falls, SD, where he started out as an aviation major. After one year, he switched to elementary education. He received a bachelor's degree in elementary education. He later attended Minnesota State University, Mankato, where he received his master's degree in special education. Jon currently teaches upper elementary/middle school in rural Minnesota. He still loves to read (especially science fiction, fantasy, and suspense/mysteries) and still loves playing sports (mainly volleyball and disc golf these days).
