The classical poet, John Mullin, received his formal education Down Under along with a shared heritage in both of those countries which enjoy that unique title. An early talent for writing led to the offer of a prestigious scholarship but travel and its immediate attractions were chosen over more intellectual and lasting pursuits. Between work in England and inspirational interludes in Ireland John settled in America where he has spent most of his adult life - in time calling Las Vegas home and poetry his vocation. Recently "Timeless Tales" followed by "Sentimental Songs" were produced in paperback and e-book versions. In consequence of certain similarities, "Harmonic Convergence" was created in hardcover to feature the two collections under a sublime, if suggestive, heading.. This would be repeated by joining the two books of sonnets, again in hardcover, as "The Sum of the Sonnets". Description
'Sentimental Songs' is a collection of 100 poems written in the classical form which, in this case, includes many of the archetypes or variations of rhyme and meter pertaining to the genre. No poem exceeds thirty lines or exhibits less than twenty while exploring the nature of life and, indeed, creation from a mainly mystical point of view.

Many are the songs which are sung, and the questions asked, amidst a sentimental or nostalgic state of consciousness. A mysterious atmosphere is called for and should not disappoint the reader who searches for those deeper meanings that remain hidden, it would seem, beyond the scope of human endeavor.

So in truth there is fantasy and that which lies purely in the realm of the imagination is left with the magic craft - to decode as it may. .
