Author Name
Tony Lavely (Author)
Tony Lavely lives with his lovely, compassionate wife in Massachusetts, in reasonable proximity to their children and grandchildren. Five plus years of retirement have provided ample time for him to pursue writing. Prior to his adventures in unemployment, he was a Manager of Hardware Design (electronics: both array processors and microwave radios) and enjoyed this work for thirty years. While full-time employment doesn't lend itself to writing fiction, writing and communication are vital skills, and he hopes that skill will be evident in his fiction.Mercenaries: A Love Story was his first novel. It has been retired in favor of the revised, retitled and re-covered books: Sandfall and Allure. The two tell the story of Beckie and Ian's meeting and the first work Beckie does with Ian's team. Sandfall is introductory, while Allure is properly the first book in the Mercenaries series. The second book in the Mercenaries series is titled Freedom Does Matter, and follows Rebecca and Ian a year and a half after Allure ends. It is a YA romantic thriller. Connections, a political thriller and the third in the series, is set immediately following Freedom. The fourth book in the series, Coda?, explores Beckie's penchant for following her mind and the consequences that inexorably result. It is set about two and a half years after Connections. Beckie has graduated college, and she and Ian were married at Stonehenge in a traditional handfasting ceremony. The fifth book, Discoveries, follows immediately on the events in Coda?, as Beckie becomes involved in an archelogical dig in Pakistan. We learn with her that things are never that simple.Currently, he has two more WIPs, both part of the Mercenaries series, with working titles of Mark My Dance Card and Ralf and Catrin. A large WIP tentatively titled A Game of Life is on indefinite hold; it may supply most of the million words of junk beginning writers need to have put aside. Certainly it would be a monumental effort to make it salable. He was privileged to be a part of the Twelve Worlds Anthology for Charity, available here at Amazon. All sales of this collection of short stories benefit Reading Is Fundamental.Participation in Critters.org has been very helpful, both in improving his writing, and in learning from crits received. He reads fantasy and adventure, confidently believes that The Muppet Movie is one of the best movies ever made, and his iPod playlist includes works from Beethoven to Twisted Sister. Finally, like others, he wonders why these are always in third person.Read more about this authorRead less about this author
