Penda James (Author)
The gift for words is genuinely in Penda James’ DNA. When her beloved mother passed on, Penda discovered that she had written beautiful poetry in her youth and was considered by many of her friends to be the next Maya Angelou. While Penda was not previously aware of that, she found her calling during her college years, helping others to develop their stories. In her adult years, Penda's father, who had been an English major in college told her, “When you write down your thoughts, your reader has your full attention.” Unfortunately, as a teenager, Penda ripped up her journals because she was ashamed of her story. The revelation from her father led Penda to pen her first book, Free to Fly – Wisdom for the Seasons in a Woman’s Life. The author of several inspirational books for women on goal setting, spiritual development, and faith, Penda writes to encourage, inspire, and support people in the pursuit of their purpose and life's calling. A gifted Scribe Coach, Penda is highly adept at identifying and breaking writing blocks, having dealt with them herself. She has guided authors through published books, music, plays, articles, and academic projects. She does this by helping them create a framework for their ideas and executing a plan to tell their story authentically. A proud graduate of Wilberforce University, Penda developed a love of history, storytelling, and legacy in college. She wrote for the school newspaper, competed on the Forensic Force debate team, and participated in theater. At Bowling Green State University, she furthered her education with an M.Ed. Because Penda has always found the written word fascinating, she uses her education, work experience, and faith in God to contribute to her mastery in helping writers and leaders reach their goals through words on paper. As the trust and notoriety grew for her superb coaching skills, more and more budding authors began to give Penda their writings for her expert insight. Penda holds your hand while also holding you accountable. Discovering that many of her family members did not write down their legacy, Penda finds great joy in guiding others through a writing process and giving them the tools that they need to fulfill their dreams of inscribing their legacy. Her clients feel heard and nurtured through their writing journey. Penda’s message is simple: “Your story is your legacy. It's important to record it.”Read more about this authorRead less about this author
