Why I write my books: a personal look at my inspirationI write books to share my experiences from working as an everyday companion and dementia caregiver in seniors' facilities. My books are a combination of scientific findings, personal experiences and my insights into the concerns of older people. Through writing, I want to bring more attention to a topic that is often not given enough attention. My books cover topics around dealing with people who have Alzheimer's disease or other dementias. I want to help support those who feel responsible for these people and give them a better understanding of how to deal with people with dementia. At the same time, my books should also serve as guides for those affected and their relatives. I also write my books because I want the voice of those who are not always easy to understand to be heard - namely those people who suffer from Alzheimer's or other dementias. My books are primarily about showing respect to those affected and treating them with understanding.My experience in this area is invaluable. By using my own books in my work with older people and people with dementia, I have been able to see what goes down well with this target group and what does not. By being actively involved in my practice, I can keep my activation booklets and memory books up to date and see what works in practice, The biggest compliment I can get is when my residents enjoy what I develop for them. Through my own publications, I can actively engage with people and their needs and adapt my work to meet those needs.
