Remember when you were a kid and you had an imagination that dreamed up all sorts of wonderful times and spaces and creations? Remember when you lost that wonder and innocence that inherently comes with being a child? I don’t. When I look back on my life and wonder when I started to change from being happy to mostly distraught, it happened little by little over the course of many years.

From disappointments, to addiction, to believing lies, my imagination was replaced with a self-degrading and loud voice that never had anything productive to say. I found my way back to the wonder I once had eventually, but not without scars and bruises.

Finding the balance of truth and hope in a place that can feel so dark and chaotic is a lifelong tension in my heart. When God started to guide me to unlearn much of what I have been taught by society to relearn his ways, life over time, became much healthier.

Full of hope and joy and bigger dreams than my inner child could dream of. I hope this book brings life into places that have been in the shadow for so long that maybe you’ve forgotten what it looks like to be free, like a child.
