And Gabe doesn't tell his great-aunt, Florence Barnes, who has an Victorian pile of a house near Snow Hill, MD., on the Delmarva Peninsula (composed of Delaware and counties of Maryland and Virginia), about the case either. But events might force him to 'fess up.The series begins with "Death on Daugherty Creek" set in Janes Island State Park in Crisfield, Md., on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay. Gabe Bergeron wants to help his friend, Neal, when things go very wrong with Neal's accounting firm. Gabe is sure that Neal's partner, smirky Eric Girard, is to blame, but before he can ask a single question, Eric and his lovely yacht are blown up on Daugherty Creek. And Gabe is knocked off the dock and into the tepid water of that creek.
