Michael began writing mystery and sci-fi novels some years ago while working full time, first at a cutlery manufacturing plant and then at a hospital. The seventeenth book of the Bergeron Mystery series, “Farmer, Physicist, Bookkeeper, Spy”, was published in June 2024. Gabriel Henri Bergeron, CPA and amateur sleuth, is minding his own business, safe and secure in his cubicle at Garst Accounting until his most troublesome client, one Marge Swank, visits him dressed all in black. With a veil. Something bad is coming; Gabe can sense it, but Marge refuses to confide in him. Possibly it's something worse than being thrown in prison for tax fraud? Which she absolutely deserves. And the following morning, tall, lean, icy-eyed Monroe, spy, intelligencer, and rogue operative, who might or might not work for Homeland Security, is standing over his bed and saying, “I need your help.” And Gabe is dragged from his bed...literally...to a crime scene; to Detective Vonda Golczewski's crime scene in South Philly. Mitch Garza is very dead having been shot three times in center of his chest. And obviously Monroe knows a whole lot more about this Garza than he's willing to share. Monroe just stares into Gabe's eyes and charges him, “Just find out who killed Garza. I know you can do it.”Scary people pop up, and Monroe vanishes: Gabe decides he doesn't want the job! But the scary people refuse to believe he's quit. And it isn't clear if the scary people want Garza's murder solved or not? As in previous books, Gabe investigates while trying to keep his job at Garst Accounting, a moderately reputable accounting firm in Philadelphia. His boyfriend, Special Agent Cory Poirier of the FBI's Art Crime Team, is out of town and doesn't find out what Gabe's up to or how dangerous it is. And Gabe doesn't tell his great-aunt, Florence Barnes, who has an Victorian pile of a house near Snow Hill, MD., on the Delmarva Peninsula (composed of Delaware and counties of Maryland and Virginia), about the case either. But events might force him to 'fess up.The series begins with "Death on Daugherty Creek" set in Janes Island State Park in Crisfield, Md., on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay. Gabe Bergeron wants to help his friend, Neal, when things go very wrong with Neal's accounting firm. Gabe is sure that Neal's partner, smirky Eric Girard, is to blame, but before he can ask a single question, Eric and his lovely yacht are blown up on Daugherty Creek. And Gabe is knocked off the dock and into the tepid water of that creek. Things go downhill for Gabe from there.Full Length Mysteries::1) Death on Daugherty Creek2) Foreseeable Harm3) Beauty in Ashes4) Deep is the Chesapeake5) Mr. Boghossian Loses a Tenant6) The Nuptials of Ezmeralda Gutierrez7) Keypunchers & Other Villains8) Bornheimer's Demise9) On Farm Deadly10) Waters Ebb, Rocks Emerge11) Not Really His Fault12) The Not So Ancient Mariner13) The Detective with Dishpan Hand14) The Face That Launched a 1000 Scams15) Gabe & Cory's Momentous Misadventure16) Reluctant Sherlock17) Farmer, Physicist, Bookkeeper, SpyBergeron Short Stories:Aunt Flo's Gold LincolnMechanic's ChildThe Darjeeling CaperFull Length Science Fiction:Rune's RiddleThe Nesrady Clone Series:1) The Clone Who Loved to Bake Bread2) The Clone Who Loved to Fight3) The Clone Who Loved to Swim4) The Clone Who Loved Voltaire.Read more about this authorRead less about this author
