Domestic Kindness is a nonprofit organization that was incorporated in 2019 in response to the need for churches to learn how to help solve the epidemic of domestic abuse.Domestic abuse is an epidemic in the United States. According to the CDC, one in four women and one in seven men have been physically abused by an intimate partner in their lifetime. This is a serious problem in the world today, in every culture, every race, every income level, and every religion.Domestic abuse destroys many lives. Christians are called to care for the oppressed. God wants every home to be a safe retreat from the dangers of life. God wants every church to be a safe place for the suffering to receive help.For far too long, the Christian community has been silent on the issue of domestic abuse. When we are silent about the issue, we are part of the problem, rather than part of the solution. Also, Christians traumatize victims by giving bad advice. Victims walk away from God because they come to believe that He must hate them because of the way they are treated by their spouses and by their church.The mission of Domestic Kindness is to equip churches to be part of the solution to domestic abuse. We educate the Christian community about the epidemic. We offer information on how to recognize the difference between domestic abuse and marital conflict. We teach what to do and what not to do when helping others. We provide Bible teaching about healthy relationships. We connect victims and abusers to expert help. We train a group of church members who become the Domestic Kindness Action Team at their church.
