Author Name
J.D. Sonne (Author)
I am the author of seven books available here on Amazon, as well as numerous short stories and novellas offered on Book Funnel. All of my novels reflect my knowledge of places where I have lived over the years. For instance, the story of the Maccabean rebellion fascinated me during my Judaic studies at college in Israel, where I obtained degrees in Hebrew and Middle Eastern history. I started specific research on Judas Maccabeus, the freedom fighter mentioned in the Apocrypha, about twenty years ago and have written three books in The Judean Revolt Series: Birth of the Maccabee (I), Judah the Hammer (II), and Legacy of the Maccabee (III). These books are a thrilling saga of the Jewish freedom fighters who conquered their Greek oppressors, and established the first free kingdom of Israel since the days of King David 800 years before. Inspired by my time in Israel I also wrote the two-book A Fitting Tomb Series. The first book, an archaeology thriller, A Fitting Tomb, tells the story of a would-be archaeologist who reveals a theft ring with all the intrigue attendant to such a discovery. Its sequel, A Fitting Tomb: The Shoot, chronicles the movie shoot of the story, a Hollywood pot-boiler with an improbable romance thrown in. Both are thrillers, but of slightly different subgenres. After living in the great state of Utah for forty years, and based on my experience with the religious culture there, I wrote the book, Bred for Harvest, a story of polygamy rescue set in Utah suburbia. A teacher discovers a polygamist compound in her neighborhood: danger ensues! Finally, I decided to explore the genre of fantasy and wrote the novel, Medieval Rain, about a planet enmeshed in gender wars where females finally quell the male oppressors by taking over the planet. The female protagonist learns about the downfalls of power, especially as it pertains to love.In addition to the degrees mentioned above, I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, and a Masters’ Degree in Education. I am a retired high school English and Latin teacher, a former adjunct professor for the University of Utah and have been published in a number of educational journals. I live in Tucson, Arizona, the Southwest a balm to my soul and art.I write the kind of stories I love to read, and I hope you will find these novels as compelling as I did while writing them. Happy reading! For more on my novels and bio, visit my website jdsonne.weebly.com.Read more about this authorRead less about this author
