Rae and the Chaotic tells a very relatable story about letting the chaos in and not being sure how to make it stop. This story provides opportunities to talk with children about how they can soothe their own big feelings that might feel chaotic.

The main character models being assertive, taking charge of their own emotions, and befriending the feelings rather than shaming this part of them. It’s beautiful imagery, literal and metaphorical, paints a picture of self compassion that is appropriate for all ages.
