Words. They've always held an allure to me, the way they can describe, confuse, explain, or confound, depending on the listener/reader's point of view, frame of mind, intellect, etc. Words can start wars, or end them. Profess love, or hate. They can be powerful as a hurricane or weak as a new-born, kitten. Whether spoken, written, heard, signed, or thought, words are as God-given as breath and water. While attending college, I made drastic strides in my ability to communicate, with "words." My early yearnings to delve off into some sort of venue to expand on my writing abilities began there. As often occurs, those desires were cut short by life, but the dream remained alive, nestled in the shadows of my mind.I married my college sweetheart, Coleen. We soon had two beautiful children, Jolene and Desmond. One day, almost as a whim, I began writing stories, recreationally, eventually surprising myself by completing novel-length, manuscripts. Shopped them around a bit but got nothing but some polite, "Rejection" letters. Personal issues arose, and just like that, with several manuscripts completed, I just gave up. Or thought I did. So the years evolved into decades, children married and made my beloved an I, grandparents.Out of the blue, I was "retired" earlier than expected from my long-time employer, with an industry down-turn underway. Soon after, The Good Lord had a talk with me, and the idea of writing, Wings of the Wind; A Tale of Redemption, took root.
