Dave Shirley, project management instructor and consultant, has more than 30 years experience in project management, new product introduction, teaching project management, as a project manager, consultant, small business owner, and educator. His project management experience began when he was a Health Administrator/Environmental Specialist responsible for the design and construction of an animal shelter and as coordinator for various public health clinics. His duties as an Environmental Specialist included enforcement of environmental regulations that provided him with a good background in environmental issues.He is currently an adjunct professor in Boston University's MBA and Masters in Project Management Programs, teaching project management and IT project management, and is on the faculty at Southern New Hampshire University - On-line teaching a graduate course in corporate social responsibility. At SNHU he also developed and taught a graduate course in environmental issues. He developed, directed, and taught the Project Management Certification program at Northern Essex Community College in Haverhill, MA from 2001 - 2005) As a past member of the graduate faculty at New England College, he developed and taught Managing Projects in Health Care as part of the Masters of Management (MoM) in Health Care Administration and the MoM in Project Management and Organizational Leadership. He taught project management at hospitals and businesses as well as online and on campus from 2001 - 2008. He is a senior instructor and consultant several leading project management education and training companies.As a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff with AT&T and Lucent Technologies Bell Laboratories, Dave was responsible for managing the first light-wave transmission products as well as several major quality efforts. He was also AT&T's project manager for the first fiber-to-to-the-home effort in Connecticut and was the Lucent Technologies program management director for several large telecommunications companies.Dave holds a BA degree in geology, from Windham College, Putney, VT, and an honors MBA degree from Monmouth University in Long Branch, New Jersey. He holds Masters Certificates in Project Management from Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, NJ and American University in Washington, DC. Mr. Shirley is also certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP©) by the Project Management Institute (PMI®).In 2009 he co-founded EarthPM, LLC and earthpm.com, "at the intersection of green and project management. He co-authored Green Project Management (2010), CRC Press, Cleland Award winner for excellence in project management literature.
