The most important things to Krystal Glushien are her family, and being a productive, effective, helpful person to this world. Born in 1985, she grew up before the many evolutions of humans and technology. Things were not the same for a child growing up back then. Krystal was bullied as a kid, taunted and teased with the nickname "Sheepie". The experience would be with her forever, but so would her continued kindness.Her grandmother was an artist, and it was from her Krystal learned how to draw and crochet. Her parents brought her to see bands they enjoyed, and by the age of 11 Krystal was singing on the stage at school assemblies. Even when she knew the kids didn't understand her, she continued to share her talents because it made others happy, especially her mom and dad.Krystal grew up in Deerfield, Massachusetts and at first she went to the public school. It was there a teacher took her aside and told her she was a gifted writer. Sadly, she was also mentally and emotionally struggling and her schooling didn't end in graduation.After obtaining her GED, she went to college, but school still wasn't for her. She tried many times to complete a degree, but the her mental and emotional struggles held her back. She continued to learn through self-education and seeking employment that would teach her skills. She knew she had a goal, but she didn't know what.Krystal volunteered for the first time at a music festival during the start of a big transition in her life. She wasn't yet ready for adulthood, but she was too old not to be. At the festival, she was socially anxious and kept seeking out the volunteer coordinator to work another job in order to have purpose. Little did she know, this is where her purpose started. 14 years later, she still works for those same festivals with the same company, Wormtown Trading. Only now she is helping to coordinate departments of their events and now she is someone who helps the socially anxious volunteers. These weren't just places of employment though, they were playgrounds for Krystal's creative mind. From within these festivals Krystal created a game called Festiquest. An interactive, scavenger hunt of experience, for events and businesses. The quests are acts of kindness and self care. It was at the festivals she made friends and more family. It was at festivals that everyone appreciated her kindness and were amazed with her talents. It wasn't all sunny days. There was a lot of rain and intense storms, but she transitioned into finding herself and what kind of adult she wanted to be. She wanted to be a healthy, happy one.Part of becoming healthy was healing the parts of herself that were invisible scars. And so, Krystal created Famtasia the sheep. She was a sheep with a unicorn horn who had been bullied on her farm for being different. But it was at a music festival that she discovered all the reasons to love herself. From this character, an event was planned, Famtasia Family Campout, a festival for kids and their families that Krystal and her friends planned. There were storms, but there was a lot of life-long friendships that first met during that weekend and the next year they did it again. Because of friends and Famtasia, Krystal met Papa Joe the Storyteller. He introduced her to the art of storytelling and encouraged her to do it how it felt right to her. So Krystal made up her own stories. She made up stories about Famtasia and made up a story about a princess and a giant with an unexpected friendship and an unexpected ending. She made up stories about her friends' pets, created twists within old classics. She even started hosting her own game show called Famtasia Family Duel.Krystal started to write books around this time. She wrote books about Famtasia the sheep, and started to write down all her stories. But she couldn't follow through yet. Seven years later, Krystal finally published her first book, Famtasia the Sheep followed closely with Famtasia Family Campout.Though Krystal could draw, she didn't want to illustrate her own books. In the beginning she didn't want to because it was hard. But then she started to ask other people what their Famtasia would look like, and idea began. This is how Krystal published the Reader Illustrated Series. A series of books that are designed to provide an opportunity for the reader to make the book their own by illustrating it. Then they can load their illustrations onto the FestiQuest website to share with others. As a kid, Krystal used to doodle in her books and she would get in trouble for it.
