Vianne Max was born in the Highlands of Scotland and grew up in Aotearoa/New Zealand. She comes from a family who are addicted to travel, and this fascination with the sights, sounds, colours, scents and cultures of the world flavours her writing. Adventure, honour and duty are important aspects of her upbringing, along with the importance of creativity and caring for others. She loves collecting experiences and has worked as everything from tractor driver to a bartender, a PA, assistant housemistress and teacher, allowing her to travel around Europe, Africa, East Asia and the Middle East during break periods. Her first position as an English teacher was in the Shetland Islands, where she fell in love with the place. Whilst walking her dog along the Sandsound cove beach, she realised it would be perfect for the Anahera Gate and the Isle of Storms series was born. Vianne now resides in Aotearoa with her loved ones and the latest pack member, Inkblot the dog.
