Michael began writing fiction when he was a boy and still has the school exercise book in which he wrote his first story when he was eleven.In 1967, as a lovelorn teenager recovering from three embarrassingly disastrous dates he wrote the first version of what has become ‘The Ghost of Christmas Past’ in which he envisaged a perfect romance. The story was packed away and forgotten as he went off to college where, in time, he did finally meet ‘Miss Right’ whom he subsequently married.Forty years later after a rewarding career in Information Technology, that first edition of ‘The Ghost of Christmas Past’ was re-discovered during a house move. It was dusted down, reworked and two additional chapters added.Having been badgered to read the story to his family and a few close friends who suggested various improvements and corrections, he was encouraged to publish ‘The Ghost of Christmas Past’ for a wider audience.Once published, Michael began to wonder what might have happened to the hero and heroine following their engagement. He took up his pen again and the result was ‘The Tangled Web’ which became the second book in the Abbey Grange saga.Currently the Abbey Grange Saga consists of:1 - The Ghost of Christmas Past2 - The Tangled Web3 - Shadows4 - Peril on the Fells (Originally titled Under the Surface)5 - Omnia Vincit AmorMichael is a member of the NorthPens community writing group based in Weardale. He is happily married and lives with his wife in a remote hamlet high in the North Pennines on the border of Northumberland. They have three grown-up children and seven grandchildren.
