Canada is at war but not all the deaths are occurring in Europe. It appears no one is safe in the port city of Halifax, Nova Scotia.

When a police detective is murdered on Citadel Hill, it heralds a seemingly unstoppable series of murders for Halifax detective, Will Henderson. He is tasked with solving the murder of a police officer, and as if that isn’t hard enough, he has to contend with a clever killer and evidence that is most irregular.

Frank Murphy is convinced German spies are operating in Halifax. He turns into a spy-hunter in his spare time and ends up as the prime suspect in the murder investigation.

Newspaperman Hugh Andrews returns to the city determined to help solve his friend’s murder but becomes entangled with a likely killer. Ella Ramsay is Alex Wallace’s newest prey due to her previous indiscretion.

Jealousy and vengeance drive the Old Wounds plot. Dianne (Taylor) Palovcik began her writing career after retirement when she challenged herself to write a novel.

Her work focuses on Canadian history, bringing it to life with relatable characters, strong storylines and detailed settings. Dianne’s successful debut novel, In Trouble is disturbing and illuminating fiction, a story of unwed mothers and forced adoption in Canada during the 1960’s.

Old Wounds is her third novel. In Trouble was recognized by the Writers Guild of Alberta in 2020 with an in-depth interview of the author and her work.

Not All Widows Wear Black weaves an engaging Victorian tale complete with lies, revenge, murder and a touch of romance. Dianne lives in Alberta, Canada.
